I took a trip with Star Travel to Kerlingarfjöll last Friday. It was a whole day trip, from 8 am to 8 pm and it was totally worth it. The Highlands, Hofsjökull, Gýgjarfoss, Hveravellir... And the beautiful scenery along the way.

At the Highlands it was so interesting As a Finn to see nothing but rocks as far as you could see. Or well, until your eyes hit a mountain in the distance. The barren lands made me appreciate the forests back home. It also made me see the versatility of Iceland. It is a gorgeous country with a lot of opportunities. With everything I saw during the trip I feel like I need at least three follow up posts to tell and show everything.

That's Kerlingarfjöll from afar, by the way. The guide we had was the founder of the company. It was so interesting to see a person who's done the tour for nearly ten years do their job. You could see how everything was accounted for. The tour was educational in many ways, I could learn about Iceland and my future profession at the same time, so win-win. You could also see more clearly the difference between guiding a whale tour, where you cannot anticipate when and where they appear, and guiding amidst mountains that have been at the same place for a very long time. It's a lot more easy to do your thing when the subject of the tour stays in place.
I still have many more pictures from the trip but I'll save them for a later post. I took so many pictures that going through 1/3 of them took me over an hour. So I'll save the pictures from the rest of the trip, Gýgjarfoss, Hveravellir and whatnot, to a later post. All in all it was a very educational trip. Gave me a lot of energy for the later half of the trip. I can't believe that a whole month has passed by. Until next post!
