Three cars, two plains and one heart attack later

I'm here! Or have been since yesterday.

As the title suggests, everything wasn't smooth sailing. My flight from Helsinki to Reykjavik was delayed quite a bit. After all the hassle that comes with arriving, getting your baggage and what not, I had only 1h 15min to get to the other airport for my connecting flight. Taking into consideration that according to Google Maps it took an hour to get to the second airport, I was panicking. I hopped in a Taxi and informed the driver of my urgency. He understood it and drove post-haste. I got to the airport, did the check in procedures and even managed to sit for 20 minutes before it was time to get on the plane.

The taxi driver was a godsent. He clearly saw my distress and kept reassuring me that I'll make it, don't worry. He started asking me about Finland and we compared the differences between Iceland and Finland. We spoke about agriculture, economy and overall situation of the world. He made the drive way less stressful which I'm thankful for.

It was also amazing that the person who had helped me get a job here came to pick me up. She helped me get dinner and drove me to the place I'll be staying at. She's an absolute jewel. I'll be seeing her soon as she also wanted to show me to my work place.

For the next two weeks I'll be sharing this place with a Danish nursing student. She's amazing as well. She showed me the local supermarket and told me everything I need to know for now. We're going to grab dinner on Sunday so stay tuned for that.

So to sum everything up, getting to this point has been quite a hassle but I'm happy that my time here started with a bang. Hopefully all the most stressful things happened now and I'll be stress free for the following two months. I'll be sure to post some photos later on but now I'll have to go.

See you in my next post!
